Mirela Iordache was born and lives in Bucharest, a city that has become her primary source of inspiration and the place where she developed her passion for art. With an artistic career spanning nearly two decades, Mirela is a representative figure in the contemporary art scene of Romania.

Her education in the field of arts was grounded during her studies at the University of Bucharest, where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts/Cultural Heritage Restoration in 2002. This solid foundation opened the door to her deep and diversified artistic exploration, which later defined her career. In 2014, Mirela further honed her expertise in painting by earning a Master’s degree in Painting awarded by UNARTE – National University of Arts Bucharest. With each academic and professional experience, she developed her artistic style and explored a wide range of techniques and art forms.

With nearly two decades of artistic career, Mirela Iordache has exhibited in over 90 solo, group, and collective exhibitions, both in Romania and in countries such as France, Germany, Belgium, and Japan. She is known for her experimental and abstract approach to art, expressing herself in a diverse range of styles and techniques, from photorealism and neo-expressionism to abstract art. Painting, linocut, drypoint, photography, collage, assemblage, and land art are just a few of the forms of artistic expression in her repertoire.

Her recent works are situated at the intersection of abstract expressionism, gesturalism, and lyrical abstraction. Her purely experimental style, coined as “abstract entropic” by the artist herself, is reflected in the #Entropomorfe project, which debuted in 2017 at the Carol Galleries in Bucharest. Here, the artist explored gestural painting, controlled physical interactions, and chemical reactions between various materials and substances.
